    Cupressus semprevirens L.

    Ethnopharmacology

The cypress, like many of its coniferous congeners, has a lot been used in traditional medicine. It is particularly here for the treatment of problems related to the urinary, digestive, nervous, respiratory and integumentary systems ( hair, nails).

    Components :

phytochemicals: monoterpenes, diterpenes, flavonoid glycosides and bioflavonoids

-Antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory, antiperspirant, diuretic and antispasmodic (1)

    Around 200 studies :

The very paltry number of new studies concerning it are a real shame, particularly because it has exceptional qualities at the osteo-articular level, for example for osteoporosis, thanks in particular to its very high level of available organic silica. This rare quality in plants (bioavailability) certainly explains its other virtues:

    -Hyperuricemia

    - Antiulcerogenic activity (3)

-Inhibitory activity against the enzymes glycogen phosphorylase and glucose-6-phosphatase (4)

-Improvement of liver and kidney functions (hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity) (5)

    -Osteoporosis (6)

    -Benign prostatic hypertrophy (7)
